Lindsey Andersen, LICSW

Lindsey is a licensed independent clinical social worker in the state of Massachusetts. She approaches therapy through a humanistic lens, focusing on how systems and relationships impact our everyday functioning. Lindsey incorporates therapeutic interventions from evidenced-based practices including cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. In her work, Lindsey utilizes principles of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness practices while weaving in compassion and humor when appropriate. Lindsey works attentively to provide a safe, transparent, and trusting atmosphere for each client while encouraging client empowerment and autonomy. She believes trust and therapeutic alliance are integral to working together to achieve common treatment goals.

Lindsey received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Social Work from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts. She has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in various settings including community-based mental health, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and preschool settings. Before joining Family Counseling Associates, Lindsey worked as a clinician and clinical supervisor for a DMH-funded psychiatric rehabilitation program. While in this role, she acted as the primary risk manager for her team and worked to keep people in the community safe. She also led agency-wide training on crisis prevention and de-escalation. Lindsey’s work has primarily focused on supporting individuals experiencing psychotic disorders, mood disorders, addiction, anxiety, self-esteem, and those who have experienced trauma.
