Neuropsychological Testing

Testing and Assessment Services

A neuropsychological assessment gives detailed information about your thinking skills, such as attention or memory. It is intended for people who have concerns about these skills to help guide treatment. The assessment includes a conversation with a psychologist about your thinking difficulties and taking a set of tests measuring thinking skills. You will receive feedback about your performance on the tests as well as recommendations and strategies to help you in your daily life.

Examples of common patient concerns include:

  • ADHD
  • Problems with organization and planning
  • Difficulties learning
  • Memory issues
  • Developmental Delays/Intellectual Disabilities
  • Problems being efficient
  • Communication issues
  • Difficulties due to medical issues or injury
  • Birth trauma (incident in utero, premature)
  • Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Seizure Disorder
  • Genetic Disorder
  • Stroke and Vascular Problems
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease

The outcome of a neuropsychological evaluation is a written report that summarizes your cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as recommendations for treatment and support. The report may also include a diagnosis of a mental health or behavioral condition, if appropriate. Your neuropsychologist will review the report in detail with you and strive to answer any questions you or your family members have.
