Alessandra Altovino, LICSW

Psychotherapist – Andover, MA

My name is Alessandra, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a passion for helping others. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in psychology and my master’s degree in clinical social work. I have 15 years of experience working with various populations in a wide range of different settings. I have primarily worked with adults, adolescents, families, and couples with various mental health symptoms in both outpatient, inpatient and group settings. I have experience treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood lability, OCD, anger management, gender/sexual identity, phobias, self-esteem, addiction, and much more!

I believe strongly in my ability to assess my clients and deliver treatment interventions that best meet their needs, in a person-centered approach. I believe gaining awareness is the first step to making positive changes. I enjoy supporting my clients with further understanding how their thought patterns affect the way they feel, and how the way they feel affects the way they behave. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy in my practice. I am a very creative therapist who enjoys using psycho-education, art, music, visualization and role-playing to help support my clients with better understanding themselves and how to move forward with reaching their therapeutic goals.

I provide an empathetic, compassionate, and safe environment for all clients I treat and believe an open and trusting therapeutic relationship is significantly important to enhance outcomes. My outgoing and welcoming personality, along with my years of experience, provides me with the ability to carefully adapt my own style of therapy to best meet the needs of my clients. Whether you have been in therapy before or this is your first time seeking a therapist, you should be proud of yourself for taking the first step to self-acceptance and self-improvement. I look forward to working together and watching your progress over the course of this journey.
