Amanda Hemp, LICSW

Psychotherapist – Andover, MA

My name is Amanda Hemp, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with 30 years of experience in the mental health field. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Salem State University and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Vermont State University–Lyndon.

I spent 20 years working in schools and community mental health clinics supporting families as they worked to overcome trauma, mental illness, parenting and socioeconomic challenges. In addition, I have spent the past 9 years in private practice and as an EAP clinician where I supported children and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, neurodivergent disorders such as ADHD and autism, work place trauma and stress.

My therapeutic approach emphasizes understanding each client’s unique life experiences, perspectives, culture, and strengths in order to help them work through challenges from both the past and present. I integrate elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed therapy into my practice, with a strong focus on building resilience and creating supportive systems of family, friends, and providers to enhance overall well-being.
