Approach to Counseling:
I use a person-centered approach to counseling, while incorporating interpersonal and cognitive behavioral techniques. I also strive to work from a place of cultural humility.
As a therapist my goal is to establish an environment where clients feel supported as well as challenged. I view therapy as a collaborative process, while therapists have expertise all clients are experts on their own lives and experiences. Therapy is individualized, because one size never fits all.
We are all faced with unique challenges at different times in our lives and engaging in therapy to navigate those challenges can be tremendously helpful. I am honored to work as a therapist to support clients in gaining clarity, perspective, and building effective coping strategies to navigate the challenges in their lives.
Education and Licensure:
I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Additionally, I have a Master’s Degree in Health Sciences (Concentration: Human Sexuality), from New York University. My undergraduate degree is in Applied Psychology, also from New York University. I have also completed the WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health) Foundations Course as part of ongoing professional development.
