Dylan Khanal, LCSW
Psychotherapist – Telepsych
Dylan Khanal, LCSW is a psychotherapist at Family Counseling Associates who holds a master’s degree in social work from Boston College. After completing a bachelor’s degree at Amherst College, Dylan went on to complete a doctorate in philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dylan had originally planned to become a professor but eventually realized that he cared more about people than ideas and chose instead to enter the field of mental health counseling. Within the context of an empathic and curious therapeutic relationship, Dylan invites those who consult him to explore more authentic ways of feeling, understanding and valuing. Dylan’s areas of clinical focus include spiritual and existential issues, grief and bereavement, mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, couples counseling, the impacts of power and oppression, and issues related to social identity. Dylan’s approach to therapy is informed by ideas and practices deriving from psychoanalytic thought, narrative and story-oriented approaches, and Asian meditative traditions. Dylan has been a fellow at the Back Bay institute of Psychotherapy as well as the Massachusetts Institute of Psychoanalysis, and is currently a trainee at the Narrative Therapy Initiative. In the past, he has provided therapeutic support in outpatient and residential settings.
