Barbara St. Pierre is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 25 years of experience. Barbara’s professional practice has spanned across all developmental stages, with current focus on working with older adolescents and adults. Over the course of her career she has worked in outpatient mental health settings, childcare and early intervention, as well as with adults with developmental disabilities living in community settings. She has also provided supportive supervision and clinical consultation for many human service workers in various settings.
Areas of interest include parenting, grandparenting, caregiving, chronic illness, and recovery from trauma, loss and grief. Her practice draws from modalities including psychodynamic and supportive psychotherapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy, to best support individuals to work toward goals they have identified for themselves. Barbara’s style is collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based as she supports individuals to identify the resources they may need to achieve their goals.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts and a Master of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation Education from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, she also received a Master of Social Work degree from Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.
