George Mouzakis LICSW, LEP (Director)- Not accepting new clients
I have training and experience in many aspects of human development including the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems, adjustment issues, and educational challenges. My professional experience includes clinical work in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. I have worked with children who have attention problems, learning difficulties, behavioral issues, anxiety, mood disturbances as well as serious mental health disorders. My experience also includes helping adults with depressive symptoms, anxiety, adjustment issues, and marital concerns.
I utilize a holistic psychosocial approach when working with clients and families. I focus on empirically-based treatment procedures and typically rely on cognitive-behavioral principles and techniques. I am also interested in developing resiliency and personal growth in my clients by providing services that are sensitive to the important role of family, mentors, community, and faith-based organization in the lives of children and families.
Education and Experience
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts- Boston and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston College. I received my Post-Graduate Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Tufts University where the majority of my practical training focused on working with at-risk students in urban settings. I have had the opportunity to receive training from leading experts in the fields of psychology and psychological assessment. My past research experience at the Jean Meyer Institute for Aging at Tufts University includes investigating the affects of diet and nutrition on neuro-psychological processes such as spatial memory and learning. I have experience working with children, families and adults in a variety of settings including psychiatric treatment facilities, emergency services, community outpatient clinics, educational settings, and private practice. From 1998-2002 I served as a ministry leader for a non-denominational Christian church in Athens, Greece. During that time, I helped to develop and lead benevolent programs to service individuals with physical, developmental and cognitive disabilities.
