I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I have worked individually with people age 14 and up, as well as having provided group therapy in several different settings. While working with someone I look to create a collaborative, non-judgmental, and open environment where people feel safe to talk about those issues that may be preventing them from becoming the person they feel they deserve to be. I believe that the bond between the people working together is of the greatest importance and I make every effort to honor an individual’s decisions in life.

While people in a therapist’s role may be educated in different aspects of best practice, only the individual themselves is the expert regarding their own life; they know themselves best. Working together, the goal is to help an individual find the answers to their questions. That being said, my approach to counseling has always been strength based and solution focused. While working with individuals my methods may vary, however, it is always based on the indicated needs of the person I am working with. I have found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapies, and Motivational Interviewing have provided me the tools to assist individuals seeking new beginnings.

My areas of experience include working with people who experience, or have experienced, Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, a Critical Incident, or drug and alcohol issues. In regards to the bigger picture, my contribution to the process is only a small part of a successful outcome; the individual is the key to the solution. The work they do both in session and outside in the “real world” are good indicators of their ability to reach their goals; it is all about choice.

Education and Experience
I received my Bachelors of Arts in Human Relations, and have a Masters in Social Work both from the University of Pittsburgh. I am a veteran having served in the US Army. After receiving my education and training I have worked with individuals and their families in many different settings; Inpatient, Outpatient, Home-based, and Residential-based locations. I have experience working with First Responders regarding Crisis Intervention, as well as having participated as a part of a Critical Incident Stress Management Team. When necessary, I will work closely with other providers in a person’s life to foster a collaborative and effective approach to treatment.
